Bitwater Labs is an independent software studio. We design, develop and operate software for businesses, and we build products of our own. These three principles describe how we do that work.

Independent by design.
Our recommendations are not shaped by vendor partnerships or reseller margins. We choose technology, hosting and tools for how well they fit your situation, and we say so when a smaller project or an off-the-shelf product is the better answer.
Engineering first.
Technical decisions are made by the people who build and run the software. We give architecture, testing and documentation the time they need, because they determine whether a system can still be changed safely a year from now.
Built for the long term.
We prefer proven technology, few dependencies and code that someone else can read. The goal is software you can rely on and extend, not a system you have to replace when the original team moves on.
What we pay attention to on every project.
Technical quality
Clear architecture, typed code, automated tests and reviewed changes. Quality is how the work is done, not a step at the end of it.
Pragmatic solutions
The simplest approach that solves the actual problem. Sometimes that is a new system. Sometimes it is an integration, a script or a change to the process itself.
Reliability
Monitoring and alerts, backups that are tested by restoring them and deployments that can be rolled back. Software only helps a business while it is running.
Privacy
Collect what is needed, document where data goes and keep access narrow. This website follows the same rule: no analytics, no tracking cookies and no requests from your browser to third-party services.
Long-lived software
Readable code, maintained dependencies and written documentation, so a system stays changeable as requirements, people and platforms change.
